Client context

Lifelong sells fitness equipment, wellness products, kitchen appliances and electronics online through its own Shopify store, alongside other sales channels.

The brief (2020)

The Lifelong team brought a list of operational changes to the store: how checkout behaved, how orders were exported, how returns and cancellations were communicated, and what customers heard after their order shipped.

What we worked on

  • Checkout and order-button wording (“Proceed to buy”, “Place your order”)
  • An additional charge for cash-on-delivery orders
  • Tracking IDs added to order exports
  • Return-policy messaging on product pages and the policy page
  • Delivery and review-request emails through suitable apps
  • Order import and export options for the operations team

Advice on platform limits

Some requests needed a different route. Checkout-field validation required Shopify Plus at the time, so it was handled at registration instead; order cancellation and courier tracking were addressed through clearer policies and a review of what the courier’s API supported.

Monthly maintenance (2022)

The relationship continued as a monthly maintenance retainer: regular website updates, bug fixes and occasional campaign and offer setup within an agreed monthly allocation of hours.

Outcome

A store that handled day-to-day operations more smoothly, and a long-running support relationship. We have not published performance figures for this work.
