Shopify assessment
Phase 1 Shopify UX scope for a women’s footwear and handbags brand
How we scoped a focused two-week first phase for a luxury women’s shoes and handbags store, and what we deliberately left out.
Prepared for a prospective client in April 2026. The brand is not named because the engagement did not go ahead.
Footwear & handbagsShopifyUX sprint scope
The goal
Make the store more product-led and conversion-oriented at its main entry points, within a two-week first phase, without starting a full redesign.
What Phase 1 covered
- Homepage built to the approved layout: stronger above-the-fold hierarchy, CTAs, best sellers, new arrivals and category shortcuts
- Navigation clean-up highlighting New In, Best Sellers, Sale and Occasion
- Collection page clean-up: product cards and price placement
- Product badges: Best Seller, New In, Sale, Limited Stock
- Product-page buy-zone clarity with reassurance near the CTA
- Delivery, returns and secure-purchase messaging in agreed places
What we left for later
- Predictive search and cart drawer redesign
- Cart upsells and a free-shipping progress bar
- Advanced product-page restructuring and recommendation logic
- Checkout changes beyond the theme
- App installs, custom apps and integrations
Plan
- Week 1: homepage, navigation, first collection clean-up
- Week 2: badges, product-page buy zone, trust placement, QA
- One consolidated feedback round, then a 7-day bug-fix window
FAQs
- Why split the work into phases?
- A tight first phase on the homepage, navigation, collections and buy zone delivers the most visible improvements quickly, and leaves heavier items like cart and search for a second phase once the first is live.
- Why is the brand not named?
- This was a scope for a prospective client and the engagement did not go ahead, so we describe the approach without identifying the store.
